Guiyang Forest Park is the No.1 city forest park in China. It is featured for its vast stretch of green forest and quiet natural scenery.
Guiyang Forest Park once was an experiment forest farm of Guizhou province. It was open to the public as a forest park in 1961. Guiyang Forest Park is located in Tuyun Barrier (the north gate of Guiyang Forest Park, and it was an important military stronghold.), a short distance of 2.5 km from Guiyang city. With a total area of 2.6 square kilometers, Guiyang Forest Park has fertile land and consists of over ten forest areas.
A beautiful park
With a ninety percent of forest cover, Forest Park is featured for its vast stretch of green forest and quiet natural scenery. There are tree species such as Chinese dove tree (national top protected tree species) Catalpa, camphor, robur, sandal wood, pine, fir, polar etc. and other thousand of precious tree species. The Forest Park also cultivates famous and rare flowers like camellia, may flower and azalea etc. and wild animals like pheasant, blackbird, owl, squirrel, pangolin, weasel etc.
With its numerous kinds of tree species, its long history and wide area, it is called as “one of eight top sceneries in Guiyang”.
There is a special scene in Guiyang Forest Park, and misshapen silver-gray stones in different poses and with different expressions inlaying in the green forest, like white cloud floating in the sky. There preserved many stone carvings on cliffs and steles.
Yat-sen Park
Yat-sen Park belongs to Guiyang Forest Park, it was rebuilt by government of Guiyang city, and it is a place for tourists in memory of Sun Yat-sen, the great forerunner of the Chinese revolution.
Entering the Yat-sen Park, the imposing marble carved gates are before your eyes. Along with the winding steps, Yat-sen Hall surrounded by mountains is in front of you. The hall is built with tetragonal roof, red bricks and green tiles, marble pillars. A tall pine stands in front of the hall and a huge stele with the inscription of “the World Is for All” is hanging on the gate which will bring you a feeling of simple and solemn, and make you feel deep respect for it.
Guiyang Forest Park still has an ethnic featured “Vacation Village”, and cultivates some artificial lakes and parks, such as Deer Park, Apple Park, Cherry Park, Mini-scape Park, and Parterre Park and so on.
