In winter, Zhaolin Park is a world of ice and ice lantern. When night falls, the magnificent and multicolored ice lanterns scatter through the whole park along with pleasant music and gorgeous light.

Situated in the center of the Harbin, facing a street along the beautiful Songhua River bank, the park was built in 1906 and used to be called Daoli Park. It was renamed as Zhaolin Park because Li Zhaolin, an anti-Japanese hero, was buried in the park. The tomb of Li Zhaolin stands in the north of the park.

Due to the unique weather conditions, Zhaolin Park enjoys two totally different natural sceneries of green summer and silvery winter. In summer, flourishing trees, fragrant-grass and hundreds of flowers in full bloom compose to the pleasant view. Each small garden has it own characters, such as reflecting-moonshine garden, clove garden, northern garden.

In winter, Zhaolin Park is a world of ice and ice lantern. The world-famous ice lantern show is held here every year. When night falls, the magnificent and multicolored ice lanterns scatter through the whole park along with pleasant music and gorgeous light. The design of ice lanterns are in different shapes, including human beings, children's slide, waterfalls, bonsai, animals and so on. Every year, millions of visitors are attracted to the fairyland by its marvelous and magnificent ice-and-snow lanterns.

Activities

Zhaolin Park has become the holding place for distinguished Harbin ice-lantern show, which is the first and largest outdoors ice-lantern show. The ice-lantern show starts on Jan. 5th and lasts to the end of February. Within an area of 60,000 square meters, artists and craftsman from all over the world turn the ice into splendid artworks and change the park into a bright and colorful world. Besides, visitors can also enjoy the iceboat, skating, ice swimming competition and wedding on ice.

Apart from its world famous ice carving art, Zhaolin Park is also equipped with many modern facilities such as ice skating rink, flower and bird garden, children's paradise, golden fish hall, amusement ground.
