Urumqi Weather

As a desert city, Urumqi has a semi-arid continental climate with large differences between night and day temperatures. It is very dry in Urumqi so drink a lot of water to avoid dehydration. The annual average temperature is 6.9°C (44.4°F). July is the hottest month and the daily average temperature is 23.7°C (74.7°F) while the coldest January is only of −12.6°C (9.3°F). May to October is the best time to visit Urumqi.

Spring - Spring  in  Urumqi  comes  comparatively  late  and  lasts  about  two  months.  Over  forty  percent  of  rainfall  occurs  in  this  season.

Summer - summer  is  flowery  and  lush.  Urumqi  is  a  tourism  summer  resort  as  it  not  hot  in  this  period.

Fall - autumn  comes  to  Urumqi  from  late  August  and  it  is  a  golden  season  of  fruit  harvests.  Day  and  night  temperatures  fluctuate  greatly  in  October.

Winter - winter  is  long  and  cold,  but  the  snowy  scenery  is  much  attractive.
