Nanjing belongs to eastern subtropics monsoon climate region and it has distinctive four seasons, sunny spring, hot and rainy summer, cool and dry autumn and cold and dry winter. Four Seasons in Nanjing
Spring - spring is the best time to go on an outing. To admire plum flower in Gulin Park is a best choice.
Summer - mid June to July are rainy season. Sometimes the highest temperature in July and August reach 40℃, and it is very hot. Now Nanjing is not so hot because of more forest planting.
Fall - it is cool and dry in autumn. Qixia Mountain and Lake Xuanwuhu are more popular for tourists in this season.
Winter - It is so cold and dry. Unlike other cities in the south of China, Nanjing is snowy in winter. Visitors have more chance to see snow in December. Besides, visitors can admire plum flower on Plum Flower Mountain.
Best Time to Visit
Autumn from September to November is the best time to visit Nanjing since the weather at that time is cool and dry. Although the city is considered a southern city in China, it is cold in winter with occasional snow.
