With unique national tourism resources, Langde Miao Ethnic Minority Village is renowned as “The Miao’s Ethnic Village Museum” and a national key cultural relic protection unit.

Located in the central of Miaoling mountains, about 27 kilometers away from Kaili City and 7 kilometers away from Leishan County, Langde Miao Ethnic Minority Village is divided into two parts, the Langde Shang Village and Langde Xia Village (means upper and low in English). And only the Langde Shang Village opened to the public. Langde Miao Ethnic Minority Village is renowned as “the Hometown of Folk Singing and Dancing Arts” at home and abroad, “ the Miao’s Ethnic Village Museum” and was listed as a ational key cultural relic protection unit.

Langde Miao Ethnic Minority Village is actually a small village with about 500 people of 100 families who share the same traditional custom and habits. It is the best place to experience the authentic ethic culture of Miao Minority. Since the people in this village are all dressed in long skirts, hence it was called “Long Skirt Miao”. Langde Miao Ethnic Minority Village is featured for its excellent example of traditional Miao architecture, the strong ethnic atmosphere and the picturesque landscapes.

Diaojiulou

The civilian residences in the village are all wood-constructed Diaojiaolou, which is high above the ground. There are usually 3 floors in the Diaojiaolou and each of them is supported by several wooden pillars. The first floor functions as shelter for the fowls and the upper floor functions as storehouse and the middle as the living house.

The Layout of the Village

Situated by the crystal Danjiang River and surrounded by mountains, Langde Miao Ethnic Minority Village is most picturesque Miao village in Kaili. There is a bridge straddling the river, the ancient mill wheels and rows upon rows of stilted wooden houses along the river. There are roads leading to the village with protective gate towers in the north, west and east directions. The roads in the village are all paved with pebble-stones and cements.

Folk Custom

Visitors who come here will be warmly welcomed. The Welcoming Ritual in Langde Miao Ethnic Minority Village is very special. When you step into the village, you will be blocked by some girls, who dressed in traditional costumes and toast to you. Entering the village, you will be invited to dance on the Bronze Drum, firstly the bronze drum dance and then the Lusheng dance. The dancing style is very entertaining and relaxed, so the visitors can not help dancing with them.
