Located in the western suburb of Jingdezhen City, Jingdezhen Ceramic History Museum is a professional ceramic museum and a living ceramics museum for the ceramic experts and fans.

Covering an area of 830,000 square meters, Jingdezhen Ceramic History Museum is a professional ceramic museum built in 1979 and opened to the public in 1984. It is located in the Panlonggang, the western suburb of Jingdezhen City. There are a complex of ancient kiln buildings and a complex of residential buildings in Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). In the ancient kiln workshop, you can see the workers making ceramics manually. In the dwelling houses, you can appreciate the development history of ceramics in Jingdezhen and the painting and calligraphy exhibitions. The whole museum consists of two parts, the ancient kiln and the ceramics history museum. It is regarded as a living ceramics museum by the ceramic experts at home and abroad and the ceramic fans.

Jingdezhen Ceramic History Museum has a rich collection of more than 5.000 articles, most of which are official kiln porcelains and the specimens of blue and white technology. The history of porcelain production can be traced back to about 1,700 years ago and the golden age of the porcelain techniques is in the region of the Yongzheng and Qianlong in Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Although the history of Jingdezhen ceramic and the prosperity are later than other kiln sites, Jingdezhen ceramic plays an important role in the ceramic history and China even the world. It is not the inventor of the ceramics, but it is the most outstanding representative, which has a profound influence in the world and to the human civilization.

Ancient Kiln Workshops

As the production zone of ceramics, ancient kiln workshops review the whole process of ceramics production technique vividly. Here provides six ancient embryo rooms and all of them are precious examples of the ancient architecture. The workers operated in a traditional way skillfully in the room. The exhibition hall for Hutian ancient kin site is also set here and can be used for the research of the ancient porcelain.

Ming Garden

Ming Garden consists of eight buildings including the store, the gate, the ancestral hall and the dwelling house, etc. The gate left from Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) is rare and exquisite. The “Wangbo Residence” in Ming Garden is a house in the typical Hui style. With unique layout and exquisite design, Ming Gardenn has been listed as a provincial cultural relic protection unit in 1987.

Qing Garden

Qing Garden has four different styles architecture. The most two representative buildings in Qing Garden are the “Yuhuatang”, a memorial temple in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), and the ‘Dafu Residence’, a residence for scholars in the Qing Dynasty. They are precious historical material in the study of the economy, architecture, porcelain of Jindezhen. Qing Garden has been listed as a provincial cultural relic protection unit in 1987.
