The best place i visted, i would say it's the Great Wall. I mean, how did people build this thing? and how did they move every single brick on to the top of the mountain?

Dear UKey,

Thanks very much for your help. Honestly, I didn't really trust this whole agency thing at the begining. But I had no choice cos i really didn't want to just travel without any help. And my parents wouldn't let me go anywhere alone. They felt better after I told them that i was going with an agency. And now they are giving you their biggest thanks and best wishes, for all the effort you made for my trip.

Beijing is really a cool place to visit, and the hotel was superb too. I was surprised that all the staff from the hotel could speak good English. As i was trying to figure out how to say something in Chinese ( I learned some when i was on the plane but just forgot all of them, LOL ).

Well the best place i visted, i would say it's the Great Wall. I mean, how did people build this thing? and how did they move every single brick on to the top of the mountain? I climbed it and i was exhausted. I'm sure there was not stairs like now, let alone those cable cars. I was amazed by this great work by the ancient Chinese people. I bought a shirt there with some Chinese characters on it which looked pretty cool. I showed my pictures taken in Beijing to my parents and they said they wanted to visit Beijing too, when they are not so busy.

Anyway, thanks again for your help Ukey. And i hope there will be a chance we meet in person. :)

Best wishes

Betty

Dear Betty

Thanks very much for your kind letter. It's my pleasure to help you. Here is an answer to your question and i hope it is helpful.

Transporting large quantities of materials was difficult, so builders always tried to use local resources. Stones from the mountains were used to build the Wall in the mountain ranges.

Stones from the mountains were used over mountain ranges, while rammed earth was used for construction in the plains. There are no surviving historical records indicating the exact length and course of the earliest walls. Most of the ancient walls have eroded away over the centuries, and very few sections remain today.

The current existing great wall is a more elegant and carefully type, using bricks, stone, and mortar instead of the before used rammed earth.

I hope the information I have provided is helpful to you. Thanks again for your kind words.

Kind regards

Ukey
