Dragon and Tiger Mountain

 Located in the southwest 20 kilometers away from Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, Dragon and Tiger Mountain is the eighth World Natural Heritage in China and is the World Geological Park. Covering an area of 220 square meters, Dragon and Tiger Mountain is the birthplace of China’s Taoism where Zhang Ling practiced alchemy. It is said that the dragon and tiger appeared after the finishing of the alchemy, so this mountain was named Dragon and Tiger Mountain. Dragon and Tiger Mountain is a typical Danxia landform landscape whose relative height is very large. The overall view is beautiful, odd and colorful.

Hanging Coffins

The hanging coffin groups, buried ancient Yue (a small tribe in ancient China), in the cliff of Dragon and Tiger Mountain dating back to 2600 years ago. The coffins embedded in the steep cliff are like the cultural treasures displayed in the great history gallery. The level of the coffins countless is scattered but neat. Overlooking the cliff, you can see the yellow coffins about thousands of years. The cliff is about more than 100 meters high so the ancient Yue people were very clever, which shows their wisdom.

Zhengyi Temple

Lu Xun (a famous writer in China) said that Taoism was a local religious sect in China. While the Chinese Taoism birthplace is Zhengyi Temple on Dragon and Tiger Mountain. In Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220), the first generation Zhang Daoling led his disciples into the Yunjin Mountain to practice the alchemy. When they succeeded, there appeared a dragon and a tiger. So this mountain is called Dragon and Tiger Mountain. The fourth generation master Zhang Sheng returned to Dragon and Tiger Mountain to build the temple which was used to worship the ancestral celestial master. Every Sanyuan Festival, the scholars came here. And in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the temple was named Zhengyi Temple which has lasted till today. The present Zhengyi Temple is reconstructed according to the architectural style in Song Dynasty (420-479). The whole building is simple, elegant, and magnificent.

Plants

The color of the flower is very charming. The coreopsis, chrysanthemum, peony and other flowers along the road are very beautiful and eye-catching. The giant herbs such as water banana and canna have huge leaves. The rhododendron is very prominent because of its variety and the full colors of yellow, white, pink, red, and purple. Besides, the Acer plants’ leaves turn red in autumn which are more beautiful than the flowers in February and forms special scenery in Dragon and Tiger Mountain.

Danxia Landscape

The Danxia landscape is well-shown in the Shizhai Area. Mesa landform is square or rectangular on the top. The top surface is smooth and the four or three sides are cliffs. Another is a bar-shaped narrow and small on the top with two sides being cliffs. Yunjin Peak, a vertical large fracture, looks like a huge blanket down from the sky, sunny and gorgeous in the sun. Lazhu Peak and Jinqiang Peak are the columnar peaks which is type of Danxia landscape. The Lazhu Peak is highly and straightly inserting into the sky. The cylindrical surfaces, seemly cut by knife, are very smooth. The top is like cone shape. Jinqiang Peak is 118 meters high whose circumferential walls are like bamboo shoots with the beauty of masculine.

Tianmenshan Falls

The first scene you can see is the three-stacked waterfalls. The distance between each waterfall is about 4 meters. On the way to the deep canyon, you can see the Qingyun Waterfall, falling from the height about 30 meters with spray scattered. On sunny day, you can see the beautiful rainbow.

Xianshuiyan

Xianshuiyan, located in the west bank of Shangqing River, is a collective name of Xianyan and Shuiyan which distributes along the river. The scenery is very beautiful and the rocks are very odd in their forms and shapes. Xianyan in the west of Dragon and Tiger Mountain includes 24 rocks and Hanxian Rocks. The 24 rocks are the mountain rocks composed by 24 odd-shaped rocks and caves.
