Kashgar Transportation

There are three choices for tourists to travel to Kashgar: by air, by train and by bus. Taking a flight to Kashgar is the quickest way due to the close distance between the airport and city center area. Besides, the public bus and taxi are available to catch in the city.

It is very convenient to take a taxi in Kashgar. The flag fall is CNY5 for the first five kilometers, and CNY1.2 for each an additional kilometer. Commonly, it takes CNY10 in the city area and CNY30 from the airport to the hotel in city center.

Kashgar Airport is located 18 km to the north of the city. There are daily flights between Kashgar and Urumqi as well as direct flights to or from Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Flight from Kashgar to Urumqi takes around 45 minutes. No. 2 bus and airport shuttle bus commute between the airport and the city.

Get around


City public bus makes the wandering in Kashgar accessible which only costs CNY1-2. Renmin Square is the bus hub that many buses pass by to all directions of the city. Bus No. 20 is available to the Kashgar Bazaar, the most bustling area in Kashgar.

There are 3 long distance bus stations in Kashgar, including the International Bus Station which is located on the No. 5 Jichang Road, the Kashgar Prefecture Passenger Bus Station which is located on the No. 29 Tiannan Road, and the Third Corps Bus Station in Kyzyl. All serve the bus buses to Urumqi, Korla, Kuqa, Hotan, Yecheng, Ili, Tashkurgan and Sost in Pakistan.

Kashgar is the terminal of the Southern Xinjiang Railway. There are trains to Urumqi, Korla, Kuqa, Baoji, Aksu, Turpan, Yarkent and Hotan. Kashgar Railway Station is on Renmin East Road. You can buy train ticket at the ticket office in the city which is located at the No. 226 Jiefang North Road and Bus 28 (CNY1) can take you to the train station.
