Huangshan Transportation

Huangshan might be a small city to you but the transportation here is quite developed due to its tourism. Buses, taxies, railway are the three main ways to get around while trains and flights are the two main ways to get in.

The flag fall for taxis in Huangshan City is CNY5 for the first 3 kilometers (1.9 miles), then CNY1.5 for each extra kilometer (0.6 mile). Travel time from the railway station to Tunxi Ancient Street by taxi is six or seven minutes.

Huangshan Airport (TXN) is located in the Tunxi District of Huangshan City in Anhui Province, about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) from the downtown area of Huangshan. Huangshan Airport operates domestic flights from Huangshan to Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hefei, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chongqing and Hong Kong, as well as international flights to Seoul.

Everyday, there are shuttle buses running between the city and the airport. Taking a taxi costs around CNY25.

Long-distance Bus


There are two main bus stations in the city, one in the city center and one at the foot of Yellow Mountains. Huangshan City Bus Station is near the railway station in Huangshan Dong Lu, Tourists can get Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Hefei, Mt. Jiuhua, and Jingdezhen by national highways. There are also buses that will take you to Yellow Mountains for CNY13.
 

City Bus


There are nearly 20 public bus lines in Huangshan City, taking travelers to nearly every corner of the city. Most of the buses run between 06:00 – 18:00 while some may run later. Nearly all the bus routes pass the city center – Yuzhong Garden. Buses No.1, 2, and 6 run to Huangshan Railway Station and No.18 runs to Huangshan Airport.

 

In addition, the Huangshan City Bus Station and the Railway Station have buses to the Mt. Huangshan Scenic Spot. Take the bus leaving from Huangshan City Bus Station to Mt. Huangshan Gate, then change buses at the gate to reach one of the two entrances to Mt. Huangshan—the Merciful Light Pavilion (Ciguang Ge) or the Cloud Valley Temple (Yungu Si). And there are coaches going directly to Shexian and Jingdezhen setting out from the Mt. Huangshan Scenic Spot Bus Station (Tangkou Town).

 

Get in
 

The Huangshan Railway Station is located in Qianyuan Bei Lu, downtown Tunxi District. Wan-Gan railway line (from Anhui Province to Jiangxi Province) runs through Huangshan City. Many trains run directly to Beijing (about 19 hour's journey), Shanghai (eleven or twelve hour's journey), Guangzhou (about 19 hour's journey), Nanjing (five to eight hour's journey), Hefei, Jingdezhen, Nanchang (eight or nine hour's journey), Xiamen (about 23 hour's journey) and Fuzhou (14 or 15 hour's journey). If you visit southern China first, you can transfer at Hangzhou. If you come to Huangshan City from northern China, Nanjing is your best transfer stop.

In front of the railway station, there are usually buses that go to Yellow Mountains Scenic Area, which cost between CNY10 - 13.

Rickshaws similar to those found in the Beijing Hu Tong are common in Huangshan City. They cost CNY2 to CNY5 in the downtown area. They can Be found in Tunxi Ancient Street and rickshaw is a convenient way to travel through the narrow streets. Watch out for rickshaw pullers who try to persuade you to visit some extremely expensive restaurants or hotels in the ancient street.

 

Huangshan City is located on the south bank of Yangtze River. There is a port in Huangshan where you can take a ship to Anqing, Wuhu, Guichi in Anhi province and Lake Qiandaohu for about 4 - 5 hours.
