Dalian is a major city and seaport located at the east coast of Eurasian Continent. As a city in the south of Liaoning province, Dalian faces the Yellow Sea to the east and the Bohai Sea to the west and south. The city is the second largest city in Liaoning occupying an area of 13,237 km² (5,111 sq mi). Dalian is a rather young city but has a significant history of being used by foreign powers for its ports in recent two centuries. Today, it is a trading and financial center in northeastern Asia of significant size and importance.
 

Attractions


Dalian is a popular destination for domestic tourists but is yet to be discovered by international travelers. As a coastal city, Dalian is never lack of beach and sun just like Sanya and Haikou, but without the coconut trees. Dalian is also home to a number of public squares such as Xinghai Square and Zhongshan Square. Many attractions of Dalian are all just a few minutes from historic downtown.

Port Lushun with rich historical legacy is the witness of Dalian’s history. Transportation


Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport is just 10 kilometers from downtown. It is a ten-minute ride by taxi and the cost is CNY20. Dalian railway is connected with the railway network of Northeast China and North China so it's easy to get to Dalian if you are already in China. Weather


Bordered by the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, Dalian has a semi-moist monsoon climate and ocean climate features with four distinct seasons. Summer is humid while winter is cold, windy and dry. The annual average temperature of Dalian is from 8 to 11°C (about from 46 to 52°F).
