Is it safe to travel alone in China? Especially for a woman?

China is regarded as a safe place to travel for both men and women, however female travelers are sometimes more likely to encounter harassment, but uncomfortable situations can often be avoided by taking the following precautions.

Dress conservatively. Although short skirts and tank tops may be comfortable, they may also encourage unwanted attention. Avoid walking alone late at night or in questionable neighborhoods. Do not agree to meet a person whom you do not know in a secluded place.

Be aware that some men tend to mistake the friendliness of foreign women for romantic interest.

It is very safe to climb up mountains in China. All the mountains have been equiped with safe fence or chains and as long as you stay in the safe area, your safety will be assured. Here we have some tips for you if you plan to climb mountins.

• Wear sport shoes with soft soles; buy a pair of nylon gloves and a walking stick when necessary.
  
• Eat high-calorie food and bring some with you when climbing.
  
• Bring mineral water with you. Do not drink too much when thirsty; just sip it to keep your mouth wet.
  
• It is windy in the mountain and especially humid in summer, so prepare some warm clothes (even in summer).
  
• Sometimes it rains on the mountain, so take along a plastic raincoat.(umbrellas are not suggested, because strong wind can make it dangerous to carry an umbrella).
  
• Bring an electric torch when climbing at night.

• If you want to take photographs or videos, do make sure first that photos are allowed at this scenic spot. Some special attractions (like some cultural relics or museums) prohibit photography. Respect China's cultural relics.
• The tour group is not an expedition, so please do not set foot in dangerous areas lacking security control.
• If you have a cruise trip or take a cable car, pay special attention to safety.
• If there is a free day in your routing, please be especially careful for your safety and watch your children well. Contact your tour guide whenever you encounter a problem.
