Hangzhou is a hub of communications on the southeast coast with all means of transportation like railway, roads, water and air transport. Its convenient transportation system brings Hangzhou a tourist city.

Getting around Hangzhou by taxi is the most convenient way to travel. The flag-down fare is CNY10 for the first 3 kilometers with CNY1 fuel surcharge. It costs CNY2 per kilometer for the next 3-10 kilometers. For over 10 kilometers the fare is CNY3 per kilometers. Taxis at 7:30AM-8:45AM and 4:30PM-7:00PM are hard to take.

Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, 27 kilometers (17 miles) from downtown Hangzhou serves domestic and international flights
The airport shuttle buses usually take an hour to the city center and less than to Xiaoshan District. The waiting hall for the shuttle bus in airport terminal is in the north side of Exit 5, Arrival Hall, on the first floor of the terminal building. Taxi fees are about CNY100 to the city center.

Get around
In general, buses in the downtown area run from 05:00 to 22:30. Some suburban lines stop as early as 17:30 or 18:00.CNY1 is possible to take the common bus. Lines with a "K" prefix are air-conditioned which is ¥2-3. Night routes (which have blue signs and are numbered K2xx) are ¥2.5. Most start running at 21:00 and end around 6:00.
There are two railway stations in Hangzhou at present: the Hangzhou Railway Station and the Hangzhou South Railway Station. Hangzhou Railway Station is the larger one, which mainly operates trains that arrive at Hangzhou as a terminal station.
Hangzhou Railway Station,supported by the Hu-Kun (Shanghai-Kunming) Railway and the Xuan-Hang (Xuancheng-Hangzhou) Railway serves trains over 30 major cities, including bullet trains to Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Fuzhou, Nanchang, Xiamen, Ningbo, Jinhua, Wenzhou, Yiwu, Cangnan and Quzhou. At present, there are about 105 scheduled trains stopping here daily.
Hangzhou South Railway Station, located in Xiaoshan District supplies trains to 40 cities in China, including 28 bullet trains to Shanghai, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Changsha, Nanchang, Wenzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou and Yiwu.
It costs 10 minutes to take a taxi from Hangzhou Railway Station to West Lake. There are buses besides the Dimian Square to railway stations. Bus No.301 and No.537 are available to the city center and the West Lake from the South Railway Station.
Get around
Hangzhou is a city comparatively bike-friendly. All small side roads have dedicated bike lanes which make bicycle one of the best ways to explore Hangzhou, particularly West Lake. Restaurants and stalls by West Lake have bikes for rental.
There is a bike rental place at Suhu Hotel with 24 hour service. The price is CNY20 per hour and CNY1, 000 for deposit. Tel: 87078888-369.
Ferry down the Grand Canal
It takes 30 minutes but only makes 5 trips per day, the first at 7:30AM and the last at 6PM. It starts at Wulin Gate/West Lake Culture Plaza and ends at Gongchen Bridge with one stop at Xinyifang Grand Canal Culture Plaza. There are medium-sized power boats (¥25), or for ¥160 you can hire a driver to paddle you around for about an hour.
