Beijing Cuisine is also called Mandarin Cuisine, which has been influenced by imperial cooking school and other cooking styles all over China. Foods originated in Beijing are often snacks rather than full courses so no trip to Beijing is complete without trying some Beijing snacks. Beijing Roast Duck is the most famous local dish popular among tourists. Imperial court food is another famous one which can be found in numerous traditional restaurants in Beijing.
The most typical snacks are Aiwowo (Sticky rice with sweet fillings), Douxian Shaobing (Pancakes with sweetened bean paste filling), Qiegao (Sticky rice cake with a layer of sweetened bean paste), Wandouhuang (Pea Flour Cake), and Lvdagun (Pastry Made of Soy Bean Flour). Douzhi (Mung bean Milk) and Chaoganer (Beijing Style Liver) are very popular food among the local Beijingers. Other famous local dishes are Instant-boiled mutton, Beggar's chicken, Peking Barbecue and Zhajiang Noodles.
