As an important cradle of China’s landscape culture, Mount Lushan is awarded as a national scenic and historical interest district and a world cultural landscape.
Covering an area of 302 square kilometers, Mount Lushan is located in southern Jiujiang City in Jiangxi Province, central China. It neighbors on the Yangtze River to the north, the Poyang Lake to the east, the Tengwang Pavilion to the south and Beijing-Kowloon Railway to the west. It is recorded that Mount Lushan has a history of more than 2,000 years. The Lushan District is about 25 kilometers long and 20 kilometers wide and has a total of over 90 peaks and the tallest is called "Hanyang Peak," which stands at 1,474 meters above sea level. Many valleys, caves, waterfalls and streams lies between the peaks and the mountain, which forms a complicated and diverse topography and landforms.
Known for its odd, steep, grandeur and beauty, Mount Lushan is a prominent tourist attraction. It was listed as a world cultural heritage in 1996 by the the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. It has 12 main scenic areas, 37 attractions and scenery landscapes. With abundant rainfalls and diffuse mist, Mount Lushan is covered with a sea of clouds and mists for about 191 days every year annually, which makes the mountain more charming and mysterious.
Mount Lushan is a famous mountain with , a collection of landscapes, culture, religion, education and politics. It is an important cradle of China’s landscape culture. Numerous scholars and poets climbed the mountain and left more than 4,000 poems for all ages. More than 1000 stone inscriptions are still well preserved in the mountain. Mount Lushan is one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization. Five religious coexisted here harmoniously. The temples of Buddhist and Taoist and the White Deer Cave Academy were fused with natural beauty and formed a very high aesthetic value.

Five Old Man Peaks
Located in the southeast of Lushan, Five Old Man Peaks are five parallel peaks and with a look of five old men sitting on the mountain, hence its name. It is about 1,358 meters above the sea level. When you stand on the top, you will have a magnificent view of the endless sky, distant mountains, trees and lakes.
Botanical Gardens
Covering an area of 3 square kilometers, Botanical Gardens are the famous Subtropical alpine botanical gardens in China built in 1934. It is one of the oldest botanical garden in China and has collected more than 100,000 kinds of plants samples and growing more than 3.400 kinds of plant. It is not only a scientific research base but a scenic spot. Lounges and stone tables are provided for visitors to have a rest.
White Deer Cave Academy
Located at the foot of the Five Old Man Peaks, White Deer Cave Academy one of the most famous of the four biggest academies in ancient China. With an area of 3,800 square meters, White Deer Cave Academy is surrounded by mountains and lakes. It is said that a famous poet li Bo in Tang Dynasty lived here and raised a white deer. After he died, the academy was named as White Deer Cave Academy.
Immortal Caverns
Immortal Caverns, also known as Thousand-Buddha Cave, is said to be the practice place of the famous god Lv Dongbin and the Founder of Taoism Laozi, hence its name. The cavern is 10 meters high and 10 meters deep. In the deep of cavern, there has dropping spring, which referred to as ‘a drop of spring’. It is a must see when traveling in Mount Lushan.
Three Tiled Springs
As an outstanding waterfall in Mount Lushan, Three Tiled Springs falls down form the east of the Five Old Men Peak. It is in a total drop of 155 meters and drops down with three steps, so it was called as Three Tiled Springs. Water drops shining as little pearls dance in the air with the breeze, which looks spectacular and magnificent.
Guanyin Bridge
With a length of 19.4 meters and a width of 4.8 meters, Guanyin Bridge is built in 1014. It is spans across the Xixian Canyon magnificently. The famous picture ‘lushan’ drawn by Tang Bohu in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) is viewed in Guanyin Bridge.
Jinxiu Valley
From Tianqiao to Immortal’s Cavern , there is “Jinxiu Valley”, which stretches as long as 1.5km. Flowers here bloom in four seasons, so the valley was called “Jinxiu”, which means beautiful and splendid.
Mei Lu
As the most representative western villa, Mei Lu is the house of Chiang Kai-shek and his wife Soong May-ling and the working place of Chairman Mao Zedong. Mei Lu is renowned at home and abroad for the two famous people who lived here. It was listed as a national key cultural protection unit.
Lulin Lake
Surrounded by green mountains and pines, Lulin bridge was built completely in 1955. It is 32m in width and 120m in height, works as a dam here. Lulin Lake looks like a mirror reflecting the beauty of the environment.
Beautiful scenery nourishes the rich and splendid history and culture of Mount Lushan. With the unique charm, Mount Lushan is embodied as a world famous mountain.
