Nong'an Liao Tower Overview & Map Weather Transportation Information
This tower locates at the west door of Nong'an County. It is the ancient tower of Nong'an, also called the Buddha Tower, the Liao Tower, and the gold tower. It was the construction masterpiece of the local people in 10th century. The tower is fully preserved from Liao and Jin Dynasty, built from 983 A.D. to 1030 A.D.
Ancient Huanglong Prefecture
The ancient city of Huanglong Prefecture lying in Nong'an County was the important town of military affairs of Liao and Jin Dynasty and the center of the politics and economy, and the "Nong'an Liao Tower" in the county is known to the world.
A general look
Nong'an Liao Tower, a fully preserved Liao and Jin Dynasty ruin, was built near the West Gate of Nong'an County in Jilin from 983 A.D. to 1030 A.D. The white tower is made of stick and wood with stick solid. It is 43 meters' tall with 8 angles and 13 floors.
What's inside?
On every angle of each floor there are dragons, horses and lions with a four- angled Aeolian bell. The shape of the tower becomes thinner and thinner till the top.
At the top floor, there is a brick room where two bronze Buddha statues and other Buddhist articles were hidden (now it is preserved in Jilin Historical Museum).
Nong'an County, Changchun, has a time-honored history. 2,000 years ago, it was made Huanglong Prefecture-the capital of Fuyu State- in 346 A.D. In Liao and Jin Dynasty, it was so prosperous that many historical attractions were left; the most typical one is Nong'an Liao Tower.
