A look at the beach
The No.1 Bathing Beach is an excellent one among all the bathing beaches in Qingdao. Surrounded on three sides by mountains, the beach is like the pearl of Huiquan Bay. The gentle slope and mild waves make the place a comfortable play area.
How came the beach
Because of the erosion and the accumulation function by sea waves, rocks around the Bend have been eroded into thin grits continuously and the eroded grits are accumulated along the beach of the Bend and developed into a beach of full silver sands in the long time.
Enjoy here all year round
Every year, between July and September, it is usually very hot in China other inland cities; however, it is comfortably cool and agreeable in Qingdao. Perfect entertainment system
At present, the beach covers an area of 3.6 hectares (8.9 acres) and is well equipped. Colorful chalets built in various shapes lead visitors into a fairytale world. More than 900 showers are provided. Restaurants, ballrooms, bars, cafes and temporary chalets are all available. Emergency life-saving equipment has been improved. A security monitoring system covers the whole beach. Combined with the broadcasting, lighting and background music systems it ensures the security of visitors.
Bathing boxes
For the first bathing beach, the bathing boxes here are including two kinds. One is on the ground .The other is under the ground. The main materials of the bathing boxes on the ground are made of wood, which is a characteristic of German style in old colonial time.
The area of the bathing boxes under the ground is about square 2000 meters. And all the bathing boxes under the ground are decorated with lighting clearstory on the roof. And there are large rest halls for swimmers with refreshments. There are service offices of the first bathing beach, showering compartment, toilet and other public facilities. The first bathing beach can hold 200,000 people to come here to swim.
Relaxing
Surrounded on three sides by mountains, the beach is like the pearl of Huiquan Bay. The gentle slope and mild waves make the place a comfortable play area. Visitors can sunbathe here and swim near the coast, relaxing by playing volleyball or running on the sand and even dining on the beach. The region's comfortable weather makes it a good choice to avoid the summer heat. Even in winter this place is crowded with keen swimmer.
When to visit
You can enjoy here from July to the end of September the whole day. During the time the temperate of sea water is most suitable for swimming. In other months, the first bathing beach is also a good scenic spot.

How about the climate of Qingdao?
All four seasons in Qingdao are mild without extreme cold or hot temperatures. Qingdao air is temperate and humid with abundant rainfall, and the temperature differences during a day are slight.
The hottest season is in August with the average temperature of 25.1C (77.2F) and the coldest in January with the average temperature of 0.9C below zero (30.4F). Autumn and winter in Qingdao are windy; in winter the temperature drops below zero centigrade, although the sea does not freeze. Winter swimming challenges the courageous.
