Dalian Laodong Park (Labor Park) is located at the bustling downtown of the city, at the foot of the Mt. Lushan. Occupying an area of 1.02 million square kilometers, it is a modern large-scale park combining various functions of sightseeing, amusement, leisure and cultural activities. Laodong Park is for Dalian what the Central Park is for New York. Located at the bustling downtown area, the Park is a place for the old people to do morning exercises and for young lovers to linger hand to fist.
What to visit
The architecture of the park integrates an open and transparent style with Chinese traditional exquisite style. The every year holding Holland Tulip Exhibition brings an exotic view to you here. There is a big soccer ball at the center of the park along with a sky lift that goes to the top of the mountain, from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of downtown on a clear day.
Plants
Lotus pond, cherry woods, clean brook, pavilions and terraces, and sculptures provide you spacious or graceful views. Various rare flowers will be in full bloom seasonably.
Animals
Ostriches, dotted deer and peacocks stroll leisurely on the green grass; red-crowned cranes hover above the garden. The Laodong Park is really a good place for entertainment and recreation in this busy city.

Seafood dominates Dalian's local cuisine. There is a bewildering profusion of saltwater fish, as well as fresh shrimp, lobster, crabs, scallops, squid, abalone, and much more. Sculptures and other works utilizing local seashells abound in this seaside town. "Cuiyan douhua" is a kind of drawing made from colorful beans. Subjects include folklore legends and modern landscapes. One popular subject is the "Eight Immortals Crossing the Ocean," is a well-know legend of the eight Taoist Immortals. Shells with intricate carvings on them are available at reasonable price.
