Before, Boao is a small quiet village, which the people there is living depends on fishing hunting. Now it is famous all around the world like a shining star. Transportation is quite convenient. From Haikou, Sanya to Boao, there are highways connecting each other. It takes only half and an hour to arrive in Haikou and 2 hours to arrive in Sanya.

Boao Forum For Asia

Boao Forum For Asia (hereinafter referred to as "BFA") is a non-governmental, non-profit international organization. It is a leading forum in Asia for political, business and academic leaders to express and exchange viewpoints on the most pressing issues of Asia. The Forum is envisioned to become the premier forum, able to promote the development goals of Asian countries through greater regional economic integration.

Must-see Attractions

Time and tide have created here some magnificent sandbanks and islands. With green and thick coconut forests and recurring tides, Boao is a heaven on the earth. Experts from home and abroad reached an agreement on the fact that Boao conserves best the natural environment around the world.

Boao Scenic Zone

On the eastern side of Hainan, is China's newest international resort and convention area and already it is giving Beihai a run for its money.

Some 53 miles from Haikou airport, it is a group of three small islands at the junction of the Wanqing River and the ocean - a naturally secure area. Since 2002 it has been the permanent site of the Boao Forum for Asia, an annual gathering of the region's political leaders.

The majority of the area's hotels are clustered around a new convention centre on Dongyu, the largest of the three islands. Jade belt beach, at the mouth of the river, is unusual - it has seawater on one side and fresh water on the other. The old town of Boao, about three miles away, is quiet but useful for basic shopping. The nearest city, Qionghai, is 10 miles away Hainan.

BFA Permanent Venue

It is located on the Dongyu Island near the mouth of Wanquan River to the South China Sea which is the best protected river mouth of the world. It integrates modern buildings, intelligence conference system, challenging golf course, attracting scenery and impressive legend.

Wanquan River

Along the upper reaches are marvelous peaks, flourishing coconut trees and busy ships and people can't bear themselves away because of the charming water scenery; along the lower reaches are densely covered ports and people enjoy themselves so much by the scenes full of pastoral characteristics.

A look at the river

Located in Qionghai city, east of Hainan Island, is the mother river in Hainan. The whole length of Wanquan River is 163 kilometers, originated from Five-finger Mountain.

The tourist zone

Wanquan River tourist zone that is provincial landscape zone takes the nature river scenery as its principal part, and its main function is tour, travel, entertainment and taking holiday. Wanquan River is mainly made up of Wanquan River tourism and entertainment dock, megalith Coconut Street, Shopping Street, Red Women Army Statue, Shazhou lsland, and Wanquan River Big Dam. Jade belt beach

Where the three rivers of Wanquan, Jiuqu, and Longgun flow into the South China Sea, a narrow long golden jade belt beach separate the river and the sea, forming the natural landscape, listed in the Guiness record of the world. It's a perfect combination of natural.

• What to notice when eating seafood?

  1. When eating seafood, you should have some vinegar or Chinese alcohol, but not beer, because a lot of uric acid can be created together by beer and seafood, which is bad for you health.
  
  2. Do not have any cold drink, or watermelon, and do not swim right after having seafood.
  
  3. Seafood contains high protein, so if you are allergic to protein please stay away from seafood.

  1. It is not good that you eat too much fruit, for example mango and pineapple.
  
  2. Do not eat pineapple and carambola with an empty stomach, especial if you have diabetes, do not eat carambola, because it will put your life at risk.
  
  3. There are three kinds of coconuts, green coconut, yellow coconut and red coconut, among which red coconut is the best. Coconuts that are picked at noon are the sweetest, and if a drop of coconut juice fall on your clothes, the color of your clothes will change and it is very hard to wash it off.

• What to notice about activities on the sea?

  1. Do enough warm up exercise in case of cramp. Swim in the safe area, if you feel unwell in the water please get out of water immediately and rest on the beach. It is not suggest that you have cold drinks, watermelon or seafood right after swimming.
  
  2. Take care of your belongings. Expensive things should not be stored in a locker. It is best to ask someone you know to take care of it or check them at customer service.
  
  3. If you participate in high-speed motorboat, aeroboat, or high-speed ship, please follow the instruction by your coach or people who work there. Take care of your children, do not let them walk around alone.

• Packing essentials for traveling in Hainan

  Clothes: bring some clothes that can absorb sweat well, and also the kind that can dry fast. No need to bring a lot of clothes, because you can wash your clothes at night and they will dry in the next morning for sure.

  • Bring sun-block that is SPF 40, and best waterproof.
    
  • Some medicine for loose bowel.
